Dallas Mavericks CEO, Cynthia Marshall
Many leading executive roles in the NBA are filled with white men, thus, Cynthia Marshall made history last year when she became the first black woman to serve as CEO of an NBA team. The boss of the Dallas Mavericks, who is a former longtime executive at AT&T, was chosen by Mavericks owner Mark Cuban to help the organization turn its culture around after being faced with several allegations of sexual abuse under its former CEO Terdema Ussery. Marshall has since increased the team’s diversity numbers to now include almost 50 per cent of women in management roles.
