There aren’t solid statistics that document how severe land degradation is in Africa, however, what is known that its effects so far have been devastating.
According to the World Bank, “485 million Africans are affected by land degradation, and Africa is burdened with a US$9.3 billion annual cost due to this phenomenon,” as published by the Status and Trends in Land Degradation in Africa.
