Africa, blessed with unique monuments and historic sites that continue to attract visitors all over the world, also contains some of the most contentious borders in the world. Historians say that the modern borders of Africa are largely the result of the competition between colonial powers such as Britain and France for the control of the continent.
Some of these foreign occupations and treaties have, however, left many countries in Africa with borders that are not clearly defined. This has led to border disputes and in extreme cases war that has injured many and claimed lives.
