Africa was once part of a massive continent: Way back in the early Mesozoic Era (The time from 248 million to 65 million years ago) Africa is documented to have been part of a super continent named Pangaea. Does it sound strange to you? Well, so did it for many historians but the veracity of this phenomenon was clearly captured in Alfred Wegener’s theory of continental drift thus subsequently matured to the theory of plate tectonics. What this theory reveals is that the African continent as we currently know it broke apart over millions of years ago from the mother continent of Pangaea – a natural occurrence described as the continental drift.
