In 2016, a friendly banter ensued between Twitter users in Kenya and Nigeria, creating the hashtag #KenyavsNigeria. This happened right after the Facebook founder, Mack Zuckerberg visited some young techpreneurs in Nigeria. A Kenyan DJ had questioned the essence of the visit, with others raising issues with Zuckerberg eating Ugali, a staple of Kenya, in Nigeria. This created a whole back and forth between the two countries with the result ending on the colour of the human skin. Racist memes and Twitter trolls were produced mocking the skin tone of citizens.

Ghanaians have also been boasting of having a beautiful black skin and accusing their all-time rivals, Nigeria of bleaching their skin.
