Koo Nimo is a leading folk musician of Highlife music from Ghana

Highlife music

This exceptional music genre, with its infusion of guitars, drums and horns originated in Ghana in the late 19th century but later spread to western Nigeria, with the popular rhythm making waves in the 1950s.
Also known as the music of nostalgia, there have been constant battles among countries, particularly, between Nigeria and Ghana about the song’s origin. Even though the music was said to have originated in Ghana’s Cape Coast in 1925, some Nigerians think otherwise, claiming that they invented the music.
