Lake Baringo, Kenya
Situated some 3,200 feet (975m) above sea level in the Great Rift Valley in Kenya’s west-central, Lake Baringo sits beautifully in the Kamasia (Ilkamasya) Hills.
The freshwater lake with no visible outlet seeps into lavas at its northern end, where a rocky shore contrasts with the alluvial flat on its southern border. Several varieties of birds inhabit the lake, which is also home to the giant herbivore, the hippopotamuses and the carnivorous crocodiles.
