WNBA stars Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark have made it clear that their minor court altercation on Saturday is nothing many should be worried about.

Over the past year, Reese and Clark have been labelled rivals in the WNBA by the media and came up against each other on Saturday.

The minor court incident took place during the season opener when Indiana Fever edged Chicago Sky in a 93-58 win.

With only 4:38 left in the third quarter, the WNBA players hit a bump in the season opener game.

Reese went on to grab an offensive rebound, yet Clark slapped her arm hard enough that the ball shook off Angel, who was knocked to the floor.

Once Reese got up and took to Clark in a confrontation before Indiana center Aliyah Boston stepped in to exert calm on the court, dying down the rift between the two WNBA stars.

The third personal foul of Caitlin Clark was upgraded to a flagrant one while Angel Reese got a technical foul after referees reviewed a replay.

Although the confrontation looked far from calm to the audience, Caitlin Clark  played down the on-court tussle in her post-game presser, denying having any “malicious” energy toward Angel.

“Let’s not make it something that it’s not,” Clark said after posting the third triple-double of her career. “It was just a good play on the basketball. I’m not sure what the ref saw to upgrade it, and that’s up to their discretion. It’s a take foul to put them at the free-throw line. I’ve watched a lot of basketball in my life, that’s exactly what it was. I wasn’t trying to do anything malicious. That’s not the type of player I am.”

“I went for the ball, clear as day in the replay,” Clark said.

“You watch it, you know it shouldn’t have been upgraded. Again, that’s up to the refs’ discretion, but I appreciate A.B. having my back.”

Angel Reese also left her thoughts on the incident, simply calling it “A basketball play.”
