Police have arrested one individual following a burglary at singer-songwriter and producer Lionel Richie’s Beverly Hills home.

Michael John Bond, 38, was arrested on suspicion of domestic burglary.

Just after midnight on August 22, Beverly Hills police got a 911 call from the 76-year-old music legend’s home regarding a person on the property, the agency told NBC4 Investigates

The award-winning songwriter was at home at the time. But nothing was stolen from the house.

After responding and conducting a neighborhood check, officers caught a man a few streets away and placed him under arrest close to Wilshire Boulevard and Beverly Glen.

According to law enforcement sources who spoke to NBC4 Investigates, the suspect entered the house but was reportedly scared away by the security alert, as evidenced by the photos captured by the surveillance cameras.

No one was hurt, and the four-time Grammy winner’s team told NBC4 Investigates that he is thankful to the police for their prompt response and arrest.

The news was made just hours after Richie, Luke Bryan, and Carrie Underwood were confirmed to return to American Idol, according to Country Now

Richie began serving as a judge in 2018 after the program switched to ABC.

The judges collaborated to perform Richie’s classic hit song, “Stuck On You,” on the American Idol stage earlier this year during the show’s Season 23 grand finale.

Released in June 1984, the popular song was Richie’s first country record. Richie wrote it himself, and it peaked at No. 24 on the country charts.

He also found success with the Commodores, a popular R&B group in the 1970s.

The singer has strong country ties, but his R&B, pop, and soul music is what made him most famous. The Alabama native collaborated with a number of the top names in country music to release Tuskegee, an album that featured country singers’ renditions of some of his greatest hits, at the beginning of 2012.

He collaborated with Jason Aldean on “Say You, Say Me,” Kenny Chesney on “My Love,” Shania Twain on “Endless Love,” Willie Nelson on “Easy,” and others. He also worked with Darius Rucker to recreate “Stuck On You.”

He also composed the famous song “Lady,” which country music legend Kenny Rogers recorded. Rogers pushed it to the top of the charts around the world, and both artists re-recorded it as a duet for Tuskegee.
