Rosa Parks (1913 – 2005)

A civil rights activist known famously for refusing to surrender her seat to a white passenger on a segregated bus in Montgomery, Alabama, Rosa Parks, became a national hero.

Born in Tuskegee, Alabama, United States, Parks is best known as “the Mother of the Freedom Movement”.  She wrote an autobiography and continued to live a quiet life before being diagnosed with and later passing from Alzheimer’s.
