The 44th  E! People’s Choice Awards has been one of the most talked about and anticipated award ceremonies in 2018. With celebrities taking over the red carpet in amazing designer outfits, the ceremony did not fall short of anything less than spectacular.

The stage was also graced by the dazzling charm of Victoria Beckham, who was the 2018 Style Icon honoree; John Legend’s performance and Nicki Minaj’s acceptance speech that had fans of Micheal B Jordan up in a frenzy when she decided to publicly shoot her shot at the actor by saying  “Shout out to Donatella Versace for custom making this outfit for me, and shout out to Michael B Jordan cause he’s going to be taking it off of me tonight. “

While all these and many more moments will resonate with fans and celebrities alike, it is the big win for the Black community that is making all the noise on social media. At the 2018 awards, the Black magic spell was cast and many Black celebrities beat other nominees to take home several awards.

From Chadwick Bossman to Kevin Hart and the amazing acceptance speech by Danai Gurira, it is safe to say many black people all over the world, who got to watch the live show or follow closely on social media, were super happy and excited for all the excellence on display.

Black Panther might have lost out on the Action movie of the year to Avengers Infinity War but the record-breaking movie still had two of its actors pick up awards

Chadwick Boseman, who played T’Challa, beat Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pratt, Nick Robinson and Robert Downey Jr to take the 2018 Male Movie Star. Chadwick was not at the award ceremony but sent in an acceptance speech which ended with Wakanda Forever!

 

Danai Gurira for her role in Black Panther beat four men including Boseman to pick up the Action Movie Star of 2018. Danai graced the stage with her strength and would be remembered for her short but powerful speech especially when she said “To the people, thank you for affirming that women and girls, when given the chance to hang with the boys can hang with the best of them”

Kevin Hart beat fellow Comedian Tifanny Haddish by a slim chance to win the 2018 Comedy Act Award. He sent in an acceptance speech video holding his award, thanking the people and making fun of the other nominees.

Iconic personality and sportswoman Serena Williams won the 2018 Game Changer Award, beating Colin Kaepernick, Cristiano Ronaldo, Aly Raisman and Nia Jax

Known as the ‘baddest’ female in the rap game, Nicki Minaj not only thrilled the audience to a literally breathtaking performance but picked up two awards for the night. The multiple award winner took home the 2018 Female Artist and Album, beating Ariana Grande and Cardi B for both awards.

Orange is the New Black won the 2018 comedy show and fans were thrilled because of its black cast members.

The night also featured Tyga who featured alongside Nicki Minaj as the opening performance.

Also a highlight was Bryan Stevenson, who gave a heartwarming message of hope for a world filled with love and nothing else

With all this, the 2018 People’s Choice Awards was definitely a night of the stars sprinkled with a touch of black diamonds shining the most.
