Black Eyed Peas star apl.de.ap has revealed he had exited the stage only minutes before a car plowed through a crowd at a Filipino festival in Vancouver, killing 11 and injuring many others.

The Philippines-born rapper, real name Allan Pineda Lindo, expressed his deep condolences to the victims in a statement Sunday.

“I had just finished performing and left the stage minutes before it happened,” he said on Instagram.

“It’s hard to describe the shock and the heaviness we feel,” he added.

Lapu Lapu Festival headliner apl.de.ap had just wrapped up his set around 8 p.m. Saturday when a 30-year-old man drove a black SUV into the crowd, killing 11 and injuring dozens more.

With officials warning the death toll could rise, Lindo shared a heartfelt message offering condolences, providing victim support resources, and urging fans to keep the victims and their families in their thoughts.

“The one thing I have noticed – from the audience to the messages sent around, is the sense of community that wraps its loving arms around us. We love you all,” he said.
