April 26, 1886 – Blues singer, Ma Rainey, was born.

April 26, 1892 – Sarah Boone obtained a United States patent number for her improvements to the ironing board, becoming the second African American woman to receive a patent.

April 26, 1960 – White men attacked and injured peaceful Black demonstrators at Biloxi Beach on Mississippi’s Gulf Coast.

April 26, 1984 – Jazz legend, Count Basie passed, away
