American rapper Stayve Jerome Thomas, better known as Slim Thug, has shared his views on reparations. According to him, Black people are not collectively serious enough about the issue to push for real change.
“I don’t even think there are enough people truly committed to the idea of reparations for it to happen. A few people talk about it, but not everyone is on board,” he said in a conversation with Willie D.
Slim Thug also urged Black people to stop waiting on the government or white leaders for solutions.
“At the end of the day, my message is ‘stop waiting on [the white man].’ It’s about mindset. We can’t sit around waiting when other people come into our neighborhoods and make things happen. We have to take action,” he explained.

The 44-year-old rapper also shared his personal vision for reparations, suggesting that Black Americans should be exempt from paying taxes.
“If I were president, I’d push for reparations in the form of tax exemptions for Black people. That’s how I believe it should be done,” he stated.
However, he expressed skepticism about whether the government would ever implement such a policy.
“I don’t trust them to actually give us reparations, and I don’t want my people waiting around for something that may never come,” he said.
While acknowledging that traditional reparations, such as “40 acres and a mule,” are no longer feasible, Slim Thug believes that tax breaks or tuition-free college could be a more realistic approach.
“If people are serious about reparations, pushing for tax exemptions might be a way to make it happen,” he added.
