Chadwick Boseman sadly passed away five years ago, but his name is set to be immortalized once again as he’s going to be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Per Billboard, the event will take place on Thursday, November 20. Ryan Coogler, who directed Black Panther, the box-office hit and record-breaking movie which saw Boseman playing the lead actor, will be speaking at the event. Viola Davis, who co-starred with Boseman in his last movie, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, is the other speaker.
The award will be accepted on behalf of the deceased actor by his widow, Simone Ledward-Boseman. Boseman will be receiving the 2,828th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and the event will take place at 6904 Hollywood Boulevard, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced.

“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is deeply honored to celebrate Chadwick Boseman’s extraordinary legacy with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” Ana Martinez, Hollywood Walk of Fame producer, said in a statement. “His powerful performances and enduring impact both on and off screen continue to inspire generations around the world.”
Boseman died on August 28, 2020, at the age of 43 after battling colon cancer. Prior to his death, his medical condition was not publicly known.
Boseman was born in Anderson, South Carolina. Before acting, he directed Heaven and Blood Over a Broken Pawn, which he also wrote. “Clair Huxtable is my acting mom,” Boseman previously told The Hollywood Reporter.
“The way she taught acting opened up things for me. I would have to take acting classes, but it was purely as director to know what the actors were doing. But when she taught it, it became something where I was like, ‘I want to experience that. I want to know, really, what that feels like.’”
