Empire actress Gabourey Sidibe revealed in her book This is Just My Face: Try Not to Stare that she faced a lot of racism and discrimination even as a phone sex operator before her fame.
She told Trevor Noah that the company told her to refrain from sounding “black”, despite the fact that 95 per cent of the women working there were black.
