Poem: I Am a Child

by Adesewa Oyinkansola, 12:38pm July 07, 2014,
African child

African child

To you I am a child
A child of course I am
Little though to you I am,
I have my dreams and desires.

Just like that grain of seed
Is watered and groomed,
Growing up to be a big tree
So also I,
That little child
Need to be nurtured,
Loved and Cherished

I beg of you, my elders and nation
Never to deny me of my rights
Never to lead me astray
So I can grow to be
Useful to myself and to you
Useful to my great nation…
And the world
