Sean “Diddy” Combs faced a brutal knife attack at the hands of a fellow inmate, according to a friend of the disgraced rapper.

Earlier this month, a federal judge sentenced Combs, 55, to 50 months in prison on prostitution-related charges. U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian also fined him $500,000 and ordered five years of supervised release at a hearing in Manhattan federal court on October 3. Combs had faced up to 20 years behind bars.

He is currently being held inside the “horrific” Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, NY, a notorious federal jail with a history of inmate murder, violence, suicide, and other shocking crimes.

Charlucci Finney, a friend of Combs, has claimed that the rapper was recently a victim of one of those acts of violence. He said Combs woke up in the night to find another inmate holding “a knife to his throat,” adding that the attack seemed to be a warning instead of an actual assault.

“He woke up with a knife to his throat,” Finney said to the Daily Mail. “I don’t know whether he fought him off or the guards came, I just know that it happened. If this guy had wanted to harm him, Sean would have been harmed. It would only take a second to cut his throat with a weapon and kill him.

“It was probably a way to say, ‘Next time you ain’t gonna be so lucky.’ Everything is intimidation. But with Sean, it won’t work. Sean is from Harlem.”

Finney, who has known Combs for more than three decades, did not state when the alleged attack took place, but his claims come just days after Combs indicated that he plans to appeal his sentence and conviction.

Lawyers for the musician filed a notice of appeal with the U.S. federal court on October 20, letting authorities know of their intention to overturn the disgraced music executive’s conviction.
