Tiffany A. Henyard, Dolton’s scandal-plagued Democratic mayor, is reportedly being evicted from her home. The Illinois native, who the locals refer to as “the worst mayor in America,” and her boyfriend Kamal Woods are behind on their rent on a house they have been renting for the past three years in the 14600 block of South Harvard, per Fox32 Chicago, citing copies of an eviction notice that was filed in Cook County Court against the couple.
Henyard is also said to have refused to allow an inspection of the property. Henyard’s attorney refuted the assertion, telling the publication that the pair had not fallen behind on rent.
According to the New York Post, the self-described “supermayor” has drawn criticism for her lavish spending made with public funds and for making national news during heated town hall meetings involving citizens and city officials that eventually needed the assistance of the police.
Following chaotic confrontations between Henyard and residents in April, police were forced to close a meeting for safety reasons. Furthermore, in June, law enforcement intervened to stop a brawl between Henyard’s fans and opponents before it got out of hand.
Not so long ago, Henyard—who also holds the position of Thornton Township Supervisor—saw another unruly meeting when trustees in the township urged her to be more forthcoming about her extravagant spending patterns. Henyard responded by accusing the trustees of undermining her.
She responded to their request, saying, “This is what I mean about my board. It’s a lot of hate, jealousy, and envy amongst them towards their supervisor.”
Henyard’s spending patterns in the Village of Dolton were previously the subject of an investigation by former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, however, her spending patterns in Thornton Township have not been the subject of any inquiry.
According to a preliminary report from Lightfoot’s inquiry into the town’s finances, Dolton had a $5.61 million general fund balance in 2022, but by May 2024, that amount had decreased to a $3.65 million deficit.
Lightfoot also revealed that Henyard made purchases at Amazon, Target, Walgreens, Wayfair, and others using the village credit card. The mayor had spent $33,000 on Amazon on January 5, 2023, according to another revelation.
Henyard reportedly paid almost $85,000 to host a party last month that included rapper J. Holiday and R&B singer Keke Wyatt.
CBS reported that the FBI is also looking into Dolton Village Hall, but it’s unclear exactly what or who is being looked into.
