One of the highlights of the entertainment world for the month of March was when Canadian rapper Drake unexpectedly shared exclusive photos of his two-year-old son, Adonis.

A very private dad, Drake was always protective of his son’s identity until he finally showed the world his adorable face via a heartfelt Instagram post.  The Toosie Slide rapper shares the boy with Sophie Brussaux. He was born in October 2017, which is also his birth month.

Appearing on Lil Wayne’s Young Money Radio program on Apple Music, the award-winning rapper opened up on why he finally decided to share photos of Adonis after hiding his identity for so long.

“I posted those pictures, it was great for me. It was great to just share that with the world. It wasn’t even anything I talked to anybody about or anything I planned,” he said. “I just woke up one morning, and I was like, you know what? This is just something that I want to do. I want to be able to go places with my son and share memories with my son. I don’t want to feel like just because of a life choice I made to be, you know, a ‘celebrity’ that I got to make everybody live under this blanket. I just wanted to free myself of that.”

Drake fathering a son with Brussaux was a largely kept secret until it was revealed by rapper Pusha T – who he’s been at loggerheads with – in the 2018 diss track, The Story of Adidon. Drake later confirmed he was a father on some tracks on his Scorpion album which was also released that same year.

On the Emotionless track, the rapper explained why he kept being a father a secret.

“I wasn’t hiding my kid from the world / I was hiding the world from my kid,” he rapped.
