FBI tracks down bank robber through demand note he wrote on his own paycheck stub

Authorities in Michigan arrested two robbery suspects after tracking them down with a demand note one of them left behind at a financial institution they allegedly robbed. The suspect is said to have written the note on his own paycheck stub.

According to FOX 2 Detroit, Collin Carl Love Jr., and LaRonte Hill were charged on March 29 in connection with three bank robberies. The suspects are also accused of trying to rob a fourth bank. During the course of investigations, the FBI determined that one of the suspects owned a paycheck stub on which one of the demand notes was written.

Authorities said the suspects, on February 4, initially robbed the Community Choice Credit Union in Redford. During that robbery, one of the suspects allegedly handed over a note that read, “I want 20,000. All 100 dollar bills no dye packs no tracking devices or funny business. I have a gun and I will shoot somebody PSA give me this check back when done!”

The teller left to retrieve the money and notified the manager about a robbery taking place. The manager then contacted the police before the teller returned to give $4,000 to the suspect, who made away with the money on foot.

In the wake of the robbery, authorities established the demand note was written on a paycheck stub that was linked to a Troy-based temp agency, which later notified investigators that the account in question belonged to Collin Love Jr.

Police also established that Love was unable to purchase a firearm on the day the robbery occurred because he had received an injunction in connection with a domestic violence incident, FOX 2 Detroit reported. He also previously served time for carrying a concealed weapon.

The suspects also robbed the Christian Financial Credit Union in Harper Woods a few days later. Just like the initial robbery, the demand note was written on a paycheck stub that was also linked to Love. In that incident, the robber was handed $9,000 by the teller.

“His criminal conduct escalated throughout the month-long crime spree,” the complaint stated, per ClickOnDetroit. “Love Jr. and Hill acted together in committing the bank robberies and took turns actually entering the banks and presenting tellers with demand notes and acting as the getaway driver. They split the proceeds once the robberies were complete.”

The complaint also stated there is probable cause for Love and Hill to face charges including bank robbery, incidental crimes, and conspiracy to commit bank robbery.
