Makeba Riddick-Woods

With Makeba’s degree in Music Business, she got an internship with Colombia Records shortly after school when she was 19 and this opened doors for her. The Baltimore native’s work first came to the limelight in 2002 after she wrote Jennifer Lopez’s single featuring LL Cool J, “All I Have.” This eventually led to a publishing deal with Diddy’s Bad Boy/ EMI Music Publishing.

Some other notable songs written by Makeba are the bridge to Beyonce’s “Upgrade U” from her 2006 solo album B’Day cowritten with Solange Knowles and “Déjà vu” also for the Queen B.

Even though Rihanna has not released new music in a while, Makeba wrote her 2005 hit “If Its Lovin’ That You Want” and other hits including “Disturbia.”

In recent times, she worked as a music producer for FOX’s Empire and Star.
