Irshad Manji 

A Canadian educator and author, Irshad Manji was born in Kampala, Uganda. She is known for her books, The Trouble with Islam Today and Allah, Liberty and Love. Her books have been banned in several Muslim nations.

Her PBS documentary, America at a Crossroads, was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2008. A former journalist and television presenter, Manji is an advocate of a reformist interpretation of Islam and a critic of literalist interpretations of the Qur’an.
