Hiked funding to appeal deportation

Trump in September announced that the fees to appeal deportation by a migrant has skyrocketed to $1000 from its original fee of $110.

According to experts, this is another tactic employed by the anti-immigration Trump administration to tighten the means by which immigrants get legal status.

In a Buzzfeed report, the Trump administration is in talks with the Department of Justice to increase the fee by almost 700%. This new fee, when implemented, will largely deter immigrants from appealing their cases.

To add to that, the Trump administration has threatened to impose hundreds of thousands of dollars as a penalty to immigrants who disobey deportation by seeking refuge in churches.
