Avishaye Daniels, a mother from Georgia, is outraged after her six-year-old daughter, Aylah, returned home from school wearing only a t-shirt and underwear.
According to a Daily Mail report, Daniels sent her daughter to Baker County Elementary fully dressed on Friday, but Aylah came home missing her shorts, leaving her mother worried and eager to unravel what caused that to happen to her child.
Aylah’s parents contacted the school after discovering that their daughter had been in only a t-shirt, underwear, socks, and shoes for nearly three hours, from noon until the curtain was drawn for the day at the institution.
“How can you overlook my 6-year-old daughter in a t-shirt and panties, socks, and shoes for three hours?” Aylah’s father, Daman Bell, told WALB. “I was mad, but I was more shocked than anything.”
Pictorial evidence obtained by the local news station show Aylah wearing a white shirt with green lettering, jean shorts, and pink sneakers before leaving for school. However, upon her return, she was dressed in a longer white shirt with red and blue lettering.
The school then explained that the incident occurred during a chalk party where students’ clothes got dirty. Aylah’s parents were then asked to send an extra shirt for their child. After the six-year-old changed, she forgot to put her shorts back on, and her teacher did not notice because of how long her shirt was.
“We’ve never had this happen before,” said Jeff Henderson, Principal of Baker County Schools. “Her shirt was long. It went almost to her knee, and she was not fully exposed throughout the day.”
Henderson also insisted that Aylah was never in danger, and the school police and the Baker County Sheriff’s Office reviewed security footage to investigate what happened during the time Aylah was without her shorts.

“We care about the parents’ concerns and the safety of our students,” Henderson said. “We have learned from this. It was a big learning experience for everyone. It was never intentional, in no way, shape, or form, would this ever happen deliberately.”
The school is now taking steps to prevent a similar situation from unfolding in the future, prioritizing its students and also the concerns of many parents who enroll their kids into their institution.
