Ancestry Day

Haitians are very much entrenched in their roots and are big on honoring the past. On January 2 they celebrate ancestry day to honour all their forefathers who fought tirelessly to gain independence from France. Military processions and public addresses by leaders at a formal gathering are used to celebrate this day.
