Renowned pastor and televangelist Bishop T.D. Jakes has addressed the medical emergency that occurred during his Sunday sermon at his Dallas megachurch.
The incident, which has gone viral, unfolded as Jakes neared the end of his hour-long message.
Footage from the live session showed that he lowered his microphone and began to tremble, leading staffers to rush to his aid on stage.

The church later confirmed on Facebook that Jakes received immediate medical attention and was in stable condition under professional care.
The specific cause of the health scare however remains undisclosed.

On Wednesday, Jakes then issued a statement on social media, expressing gratitude to God and all who supported him for his recovery.
“I give thanks unto the Lord that I did not have a stroke,” Jakes wrote, adding that the event “could’ve been fatal if it weren’t for God’s intervention.”
In his statement, T.D. Jakes reflected on the importance of rest and also being resilient in faith. “Serving God’s people is an extraordinary privilege, and Sunday was no exception as I gave my all in delivering the message God placed on my heart,” he wrote. “Even when I sensed the weight of my humanity and pushed through nonetheless, I’m reminded that even the strongest must rely on His strength.”
Also, the renowned pastor thanked the medical professionals who provided care for him amid his struggles and acknowledged the overwhelming support from his congregation and global community.
Over 2,000 people have left a comment on the church’s social media posts, offering prayers and good wishes for Jakes’ recovery.
Jakes emphasized how crucial rest is as a divine gift and revealed that he is focused on his full recovery before returning to the pulpit.
“My job is to recuperate and reflect on God’s protection,” he said. “I owe it to my amazing family and church members to rest and ruminate as He restores me toward His service.”
The pastor concluded with gratitude for the love and encouragement he received and said: “God’s faithfulness was unmistakable to all those present. I’m forever humbled by your outpouring of love and support. I will always give my best. May His presence continue to guide and sustain you and provide peace and protection over you all.”
