Jeezy and Jeannie Mai’s divorce case recently took another turn after the rapper filed for primary physical custody of their 2-year-old daughter, Monaco. According to TMZ, Jeezy, whose real name is Jay Wayne Jenkins, wants a judge to nullify the current custody and parenting time agreement he has with his estranged wife as he wants their daughter to be under his care on a full-time basis.
As previously reported by Face2Face Africa, the Don’t Cheat rapper in September filed for divorce from the television show host after two and half years of marriage. Jeezy in the recently filed court documents claims that he agreed to relocate to their family home’s basement in the wake of their separation. But Mai later moved out of the residence with their daughter.
The 46-year-old rapper claims Mai, 45, has a busy traveling schedule that would not benefit their daughter, adding that the minor is now usually under the care of the television personality’s mother and brother. Jeezy also claims that the time he spends with Monaco has been curtailed over the last two months.
Jeezy said having primary physical custody of their daughter would afford the minor better stability. This recent filing comes after Mai denied she was gatekeeping their daughter from her estranged husband, TMZ reported. Mai had claimed that all of Jeezy’s visitation requests had been honored – though she made mention of safety concerns in another instance.
Mai claimed that the firearms in Jeezy’s home were unsecured, but the Soul Survivor rapper denied that. Jeezy said Monaco is always monitored when she’s under his care. He also said the firearms in his home are never left unsecured, adding that the weapons are far from the minor’s proximity when she’s around.
Jeezy and Mai’s divorce has had twists and turns. In December, Face2Face Africa reported that the award-winning rapper denied cheating allegations after his estranged wife asked a court to enforce their prenuptial agreement’s infidelity clause.
