Jeezy has denied cheating allegations after his estranged wife Jeannie Mai requested that the court enforce their prenuptial agreement’s infidelity clause. As previously reported by Face2Face Africa, the Don’t Cheat rapper in September filed for divorce from the television show host after two and half years of marriage.
And though the 46-year-old, whose real name is Jay Wayne Jenkins, has not responded to Mai’s petition, his spokesperson told US Weekly he never cheated on Mai. “Any claim of infidelity on Mr. Jenkins’ behalf are 100% false and we have no further statements at this time,” the spokesperson said on Saturday.
The prenuptial agreement between Jeezy and Mai, 44, was signed in March 2021, though the exact details of the document haven’t been disclosed. But in her November 30 filing, Mai claims any party who committed adultery during their marriage is liable to a penalty. Mai therefore wants the court to enforce that penalty and also asked for all their marriage assets to be equitably divided.
“Wife further shows that the Court should enforce Paragraph 8 of the Prenuptial Agreement regarding infidelity,” Mai stated in the documents. “[The clause] provides, in pertinent part, that in the event that either party engages in sexual relations, an emotional relationship, or is emotionally or sexually suggestive in communication with a third party … shall result in a significant financial penalty upon the adulterous party as specified in said Prenuptial Agreement.”
The Soul Survivor rapper and Mai became romantically involved in 2019 before they got married in March 2021. They also share a 1-year-old daughter. The 46-year-old in his divorce filing claimed his marriage to Mai was “irretrievably broken” and both of them were “currently living in a bona fide state of separation.” He also said there’s “no hope for reconciliation.”
During a previous sit-down with Nia Long, Jeezy also revealed that efforts by him and Mai to save their marriage through therapy proved futile. “Integrity intact, I could never say anything that would not honor somebody. But I can tell you that this has not been an easy journey. I can tell you that I’m saddened, I can tell you that I’m disappointed, I can tell you that I’m uneasy,” the rapper said, per Complex.
“But then again, God has put me in a different path, and that path is going to entail for me to take care of myself, and to love myself, and to be in the best situation. And I can thrive as someone who been through all the things I’ve been through.”
“I don’t like to fail at anything,” he continued. “I can only be responsible for myself. I can only do what I can do. I can’t expect someone else to do what I’m doing.”
