Meghan Markle is already known as a podcast host, lifestyle brand founder, children’s book author, and Netflix producer, but, many have been wondering whether she will make a possible move into politics.
In her first-ever podcast interview, appearing on The Jamie Kern Lima Show with no makeup and plenty of candor, the Duchess of Sussex, 43, opened up about love, life with Prince Harry, and what might be next — including whether politics is on her horizon, according to PEOPLE.
When the host raised the question, Meghan didn’t shy away, keeping listeners guessing about a potential pivot from palace to public office.
“Would you ever run for office?” Kern Lima asked.
“No,” Meghan replied, adding, “Never. Oh, God.”
“I mean, you could say, ‘Never say never.’ No, I’m not interested in that. No,” the Duchess of Sussex continued.
While the British royal family traditionally remains politically neutral and refrains from voting, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have taken a different path since stepping back from royal duties in 2020.
Now living in California, the couple has spoken out about the importance of voting.
Prince Harry noted he’d never voted in the U.K., while Meghan made history as the first modern royal to vote in a U.S. presidential election.
She expressed enthusiasm over the decision to vote, explaining that she was happy over the representation of women of color in Kamala Harris.
Meghan has ruled out a run for political office but remains open to expanding her literary pursuits.
She hinted at the possibility of authoring another book following the success of her children’s picture book The Bench, which earned a spot on The New York Times Bestseller list.
When asked if she would write another book, the Duchess of Sussex responded, “Yes, maybe, for sure.”
“I love, right now, working on everything in this space of hospitality and home and entertaining and food and those sort of tips and something like that I think could be really fun. Of course, children’s books are great,” she continued.
Meghan added, “And then, you know, I think people are often curious if I’m going to write a memoir, but I’ve got a lot more life to live before I’m there.”
