Michelle Obama, other celebs are sharing throwback photos of their prom dresses and here’s why

It might not be #ThrowbackThursday but Michelle Obama and other celebrities are blessing our timeliness with some much-needed photos of them in their prom dresses.

A commendable gesture that we truly appreciate, the throwback photos are, however, not being shared in vain and are for a very worthy cause.

The former first lady, on Tuesday, set the ball rolling with the #PromChallenge initiative when she shared a photo of her gorgeous 1982 prom dress. Wearing a pink satin polka-dotted gown, Obama, who is seated and graciously smiling, can be seen posing with her date for the night who is also looking smart in a tuxedo.

The 2020 Prom Challenge is a collaborative effort between When We All Vote, which Obama co-chairs and MTV’s +1thevote campaign “to celebrate and recognize 20 high schools across the country integrating voter registration into their schools in the most creative and impactful ways.”

Winners of the competition will receive up to $5000 towards their school’s prom.

Take a look at Obama’s adorable photos as well as other celebrities who jumped on the challenge. Which one’s your favorite?
