Speaking on behalf of the NBA Association, Mr. Silver condemned Sterling for his shocking remarks and asserted that they are not a reflection of the values of the NBA.

Effective immediately, Sterling has been banned for life from the NBA and all it’s associations, including being banned from visiting his own team’s headquarters. Mr Silver said that he will ensure that the NBA Governor’s Association will enforce a sale of the LA Clippers team from Mr. Sterling. In addition, Mr. Sterling will be fined 2.5 million dollars, which will be donated to various anti-discrimination organization around the country.

The action taken by the commissioner immediately received support from the community, including a statement from Magic Johnson that Mr. Silver has shown great leadership with his decision.

“I agree 100 percent with Mr. Silver’s finding and the NBA’s actions towards Sterling.”- Mark Cuban
