Famille Debout, a non-profit organization with a consultative status to the United Nations Economic and Social Council, is organizing a fundraising event on June 11, 2017 at Notre Dame Church in Manhattan, New York at 10 am.

The goal of the event is to raise funds through selling bags, t-shirts, children’s books, gift certificates, and other items to support the construction of 2 elementary schools in Kikwit and Lusanga in Congo, DRC, Africa. As a non-profit organization that focuses on children’s education in rural area in Democratic Republic of Congo, the mission of Famille Debout is to support families to encourage their children to go to school.

The organization has been active since 2008 and it was founded by a priest philanthropist Alain Lukanga, who is currently based in Belgium.

Famille Debout is mainly funded by its generous donors through individual gifts, sponsorship, and fundraising events. Funds directly support teachers’ salary, uniforms, books, and meals. Currently, Famille Debout supports 200 children, 4 teachers and 2 administrators under its programs (nursery and primary school), and is also funding school tuition and personal costs. In the year 2016, 98 children have graduated from the school, 54 (60%) girls, and 44 (40%) boys.

In order for the organization to continue its work, Famille Debout is organizing a fundraising event that will help to raise funds and eventually impact the lives of underprivileged children in the rural area of Eastern Congo.

We hope that you can join us and help us create a better and hopeful future for both children and families in Congo, DRC, Africa.
