The Denver Nuggets point guard Russell Westbrook is making history on the court. The 36-year-old is currently the only NBA player in basketball history to record 200 triple-doubles.
Sports News reports that Westbrook’s 200th point performance occurred during a victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday, when he recorded 12 points, 14 assists, and 10 rebounds.
According to the publication, this is Westbrook’s first triple-double with his new team in 13 games, and his first since April 2024, when he was with the Clippers.
Westbrook’s 200th triple-double expands his lead on the all-time chart, with Oscar Robertson in second place with 181. However, current teammate Nikola Jokić, who is averaging a triple-double this season, may challenge his record.
He told ESPN, “It’s a blessing. I’m truly grateful to be able to play the game [well enough] to do that. But I’m also appreciative of the ones who came before me.”
He added, “Anytime we win and I get them, I’m always grateful for that. It’s my favorite time.”
Westbrook’s teammates were impressed by not only his amount of triple-doubles but also his consistency.
