Louis Vuitton is working with famous British makeup artist Pat McGrath as its creative director for its debut cosmetics collection.

The news comes after the popular French fashion house revealed that it will establish its own beauty line, La Beauté Louis Vuitton, following the popularity of its fragrances, as well as its long lineage of luggage and travel accessories, including makeup and toiletry cases.

According to Forbes, McGrath has been recognized as one of the most notable makeup artists in the world. Her accomplishments in the beauty industry—the backstage of fashion—earned her national fame.

In 2021, the late Queen Elizabeth II bestowed upon her the title of “Dame,” making her the only makeup artist to ever hold this title. She has been a member of the Order of the British Empire since 2014.

McGrath has extensive experience working backstage in the fashion industry. She is the founder of her own successful beauty company, Pat McGrath Cosmetics.

McGrath said in a press release, “Working backstage for over 20 years at Louis Vuitton fashion shows, I am thrilled to now play such a key role in the launch of La Beauté Louis Vuitton, which is the result of extraordinary craftsmanship, creativity and innovation. The beauty universe is about so much more than just product and what we are creating here will unlock a new level in luxury beauty.”

According to Forbes, the trailblazer specializes in developing foundation and lipstick formulations—including astonishingly pinky-nude pigment mixes for lip and cheek—as well as industry-leading eyeliners.

Though specific product details are still unknown, the collection is likely to include luxurious, high-performance cosmetics created with new formulas and bold colors.

According to WWD, the collection will feature 55 lipsticks, 10 lip balms, and eight eye palettes.

Louis Vuitton chairman and CEO Pietro Beccari said in a statement, “La Beauté Louis Vuitton is a natural business evolution, driven by our meticulous attention to quality, formula and innovation. Through this new universe, we have the opportunity to further accompany clients in their everyday lives with purpose and pleasure, while continuing to celebrate our creativity and heritage.”
