A Georgia bank worker is facing serious charges after allegedly turning trust into theft. Stephanie Rose Kilbert, a former Regions Bank employee in Smyrna, is accused of quietly draining $8,000 from an elderly customer’s account through a series of unauthorized ATM withdrawals between October 3 and November 4, 2024.

According to a Cobb County arrest warrant, Kilbert had been assisting the longtime client when she allegedly exploited that access for personal gain.

She’s now charged with theft and exploitation of an elderly or disabled person, per court documents cited by WSB-TV.

A spokesperson for Regions Bank confirmed to PEOPLE that Kilbert was terminated from her role in February. The bank also assured that the elderly customer affected by the unauthorized withdrawals has been fully reimbursed for all reported transactions.

“Rest assured, we have zero tolerance for the type of behavior alleged in this case. Our investigators have strong relationships with law enforcement, and we are committed to helping bring this matter to justice,” the representative said.
