 Sam Lucas – First African American actor to star in a full-length film 

Sam Lucas is known as the first African American to feature in a full-length movie. He was also the first African-American to play the role of a more serious actor taking the lead role in Uncle Tom’s Cabin as Uncle Tom and other seminal works such as the Creole Show and  A Trip to Coontown. He was described as the Grand Old Man of the Negro Stage.
