Hattie McDaniel – First Black actress to win an Oscar (1940)

In 1949, Hattie McDaniel took home the Oscar award for best-supporting actress for her role as Mannie in the movie Gone With The Wind. Born on the 10th of June 1895, Hattie was 45 years old when she took home the award. She was an American actress, singer and songwriter and comedian. She died on the 26th of October 1952 and has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
