Bill Cosby – First Black lead actor in a series (1965)

After many more years of African-Americans entering the film scene, Bill Cosby became the first ever lead actor in a television drama series. The series was an hour-long adventure that ran for three seasons and won him awards such as the Primetime Emmy Awards in 1966 and 1968. The series was called “I Spy”.
