Secrets to Healthy Living

On April 28, Ghanaian pharmacist, Dr. Alex Dodoo released Health Secrets: A Lay-Persons Guide to Health Issues in Accra, Ghana.

This 322-paged book is a collection of articles Dr. Dodoo contributed to the Weekly Spectacular over the course of 2 years, from 2005 to 2007. The book addresses a number of health-related issues including erectile dysfunction, condoms, panic attacks and bedwetting.

Dr. Dodoo is an expert in pharmacovigilance and has dedicated his efforts to ensuring that all people have equal access to proper health education, especially when it comes to creating awareness about pharmaceutical drugs and their side effects. He is the Director of the World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Advocacy and Training in Pharmacovigilance. He was also the first African to be elected President of the International Society of Pharmacovigilance.

Martin Luther King Jr. said it best: “Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health care is the most shocking and inhumane.” There are too many people around that world that do not have access to quality health care or health education. Through his book Dr. Dodoo hopes to equip people who may not have a degree in medicine, if any at all, with the knowledge necessary to lead healthy lives.
