Even though Taraji P. Henson studied acting at Howard University, she made her breakthrough in Baby Boy  in 2001 when she was 31. 

Today Henson is an internationally recognized successful actress and author. She landed one of her biggest roles in Benjamin Button when she was 38 and landed the Fox drama series Empire when she was 44.

In 2006, Henson released a New York Times bestselling autobiography titled Around the Way Girl: A Memoir.
