Shaggy and Wyclef team up for benefit concert to support children’s hospital in Jamaica

Award-winning artist Wyclef has teamed up with another music-heavy hitter Shaggy in conjunction with The Shaggy Make A Difference Foundation (SMADF) and it’s all in hopes to raise funds for the Bustamante Hospital for Children in Kingston, Jamaica.  Shaggy and friends as it has been titled will take place on January 6, 2018.

According to Dig Jamaica, the concert lineup includes Sting, Fetty Wap, Bunji Garlin and Fay-Ann Lyons, Christopher Martin, Aidonia, Dexta Daps, Junior Reid, Shenseea, Barrington Levy, Third World, Chaka Demus and Pliers, Capleton, Professor Nuts and Wayne Wonder. Shaggy has expectations to capture the attention and pockets of  Caribbean citizens worldwide in hopes of gaining a substantial amount of funding – $1 million to be exact.

The Bustamante Hospital is in dire need of monies to expand their Pediatric section. The unit will need to utilize critical tools, space, modernized equipment and upkeep of the facility. The initial benefit concert was held on January 3, 2009, and grossed $1.5 million dollars in proceeds.

Wyclef is known for being part of the legendary hip-hop trio The Fugees and has earned accolades as a producer, actor, singer, and humanitarian in Haiti. Jean is currently on a United States tour. Shaggy is known for the hits “It Wasn’t Me,” “Oh Carolina,” and “Boombastic.”
