Four-time Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles shocked her followers on Instagram when she disclosed that she owed gymnast Zoe Miller $200. She had entered into a bet with Miller to do a dance celebration at the Core Hydration Classic in Illinois.
Biles doubted her friend would be able to pull the celebration through. However, Mills, 17, after securing an uneven bars routine in front of a crowd, caught everyone by surprise by twerking briefly in celebration.
Biles, who could not hold her amazement, screamed in awe. She posted on her Instagram page “I just lost $200 to @_.zoemiller for doing that dance celebration.” She capped it with a smile and captioned it “OMG OKAY GIRL.”
She praised Miller’s successful uneven bars routine. Miller earned the highest score for the uneven bars at 14.75, ranking sixth overall in the event’s final results. Biles, on the other hand, secured the first-place position with a total score of 59.10. This event marked Biles’ return to competition since her participation in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
The Core Hydration Classic serves as the last qualifying competition for the 2023 U.S. Gymnastics Championships, scheduled for August 24-27 in San Jose, California. Biles showcased her skills with impressive routines, including solid performances on the uneven bars, beam, and floor exercises. Her only minor mistake was a step on landing during her full-twisting flip.
Biles concluded her competition triumphantly with a flawless floor routine, featuring a double layout with a half-turn, earning a score of 14.9. She concluded the event by successfully executing a Yurchenko double pike on the vault, which is recognized as the most challenging women’s vault in the world.
Overall, Biles’ return to competition was marked by strong performances and camaraderie, as evidenced by her friendly bet with Miller.
