Ms. Williams, an educator and influencer, earned the nickname “Teacher Bae” after she went viral online because of the outfits she wears to school.
The teacher and influencer boasts over 130,000 followers on TikTok, and videos of the outfits that she wears to school have triggered mixed reactions over whether they are appropriate or not.
But in an interview with TMZ, Williams stated that the criticism coming her way could not be substantiated because she wasn’t flouting her school’s dress code. The curvy teacher claimed that she was rather being body-shamed as she was abiding by the dress code policies set by her school.
“They’re complaining about my shape. That’s all I see, is shape shaming. That’s it. I don’t see anything else.”
Williams claimed that if her school outfits were worn by a less curvy teacher, that educator wouldn’t be receiving the same backlash directed at her. She also answered in the affirmative when she was asked if the criticisms were borne out of jealousy, adding that other teachers similarly take to social media to post their daily work outfits.
Williams emphatically stated that she’s a strict teacher, and her appearance in class does not distract her students and their studies. Despite the online backlash, Williams stated that her students and teachers love her, and they think she dresses “nice.”
“I don’t have nothing to say about my students or my staff. I love my school, I love my class,” she said.
