Texas rapper G$ Lil Ronnie and his 5-year-old daughter were fatally shot at a local car wash in Forest Hill Drive on Monday morning, NBC News reported. The fatal incident is said to have occurred a day after G$ Lil Ronnie’s deceased daughter R’Mani celebrated her birthday.

G$ Lil Ronnie, born Ronnie Smith, was in a car with his daughter when two suspects opened fire on them. The two victims were pronounced dead at the scene after responding officers performed life-saving measures on them, authorities said.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that two suspects, described as Black males wearing blue jeans and grey sweaters, exited a white four-door Kia and approached the victim’s vehicle, which was stationary in a bay at the car wash. The suspects opened fire on the victims before fleeing the scene,” the Forest Hill Police Department said in a statement.

Authorities said they have since launched an investigation into the fatal shooting. Meanwhile, the Forest Hill Police Department in the statement also said that a suspect had been identified in connection with the shooting, and an “Active Capital murder warrant has been issued.”

“Currently, we are not ready to release the suspect’s name as the investigation continues,” the statement added.

In an interview with NBC Dallas-Fort Worth, G$ Lil Ronnie’s aunt, Stella Houston, said all they “know is that he was cleaning the car out and somebody came through shooting and killed him and the baby.”

Smith also said that her deceased 30-year-old nephew “didn’t target nobody.” “He was a family man and he was going around rapping. OK?” Houston continued. “Why would you target him? Why would you target him? He didn’t bother nobody. And a baby? His baby?”

Authorities said this recent incident marked the fourth and fifth reported homicides for Forest Hill, “compared to zero last year.”

“You just got to be careful out here, watch your step, it’s crazy out here,” Forest Hill resident Randy Owens said. “You’re not safe nowhere, you just got to pick your spots, you know what I’m saying?”
