Aurelia Browder

Aurelia Shines Browder Coleman was arrested in Montgomery, Alabama, for refusing to vacate her bus seat for a white person. She was among the four plaintiffs in the Browder v. Gayle case on bus segregation. Aside from being a civil rights activist, she was also a teacher, midwife, seamstress, nurse, and businesswoman.
