Comoros

Ranking sixth in the world at 12 per cent, Comoros has the third highest rate of child grooms in Africa. For girls, 32 per cent are married before their 18th birthday and 10 per cent are married before the age of 15. In general, the practice of child marriage in Comoros is driven by gender inequality and the belief that women and girls are somehow inferior to men and boys, according to Girls Not Brides.
