The month of October is World Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and as part of the commemoration, it is important to be reminded of the battles fought and won by black women against breast cancer.
Indeed, for women in Africa and the Carribean, as well as, for women of colour in North America, access to information regarding the ailment is particularly important. This is because black women are usually without the resources to pursue prevention, treatment or cure.
The stories of popular black people, especially women who have won the battle against breast cancer, can do more to disseminate the much-needed information other black women need.
