Giraffe
The giraffe is the tallest living animal and the hugest ruminants – an animal which acquires nutrients from plant-based food through the process of fermentation, prior to digestion.
Giraffes are found in Chad, South Africa, Niger and Somalia. They inhabit woodlands and savannahs throughout the continent.
The distinct species of giraffes includes the Kordofan giraffe, Nubian giraffe, West African giraffe, reticulated giraffe, Angolan giraffe, South African giraffe, Masai giraffe and the Thornicroft’s giraffe.
