These are the five African countries leading the way in global tech innovations

Africa has been hailed as the place of the future by many, including recently, by Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey.

The continent has by some distance, the world’s youngest population of around 19.4 years. For economists, this spells potential waiting to be utilised.

Despite significant social and political problems, one characteristic of a young population is to look forward with hope. And it has happened that for Africa, technology seems to be the area generating comprehensive solutions to everyday problems.

Direct investment in the last five years from outside the continent has massively swung into information technology, communications and manufacturing.

A few countries have been able to either pioneer or join global trends of technological innovations.

Here are five countries in Africa who are leading the way in this vein.
